Yellow fever is transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito. It is a serious viral disease,
found in parts of Africa and South America. Yellow fever can produce flu-like symptoms,
jaundice, liver, kidney, respiratory problems and, in some cases, death.
Yellow fever vaccine prevents the disease, and is given at certified vaccination centers
such as Passport Health. Your yellow fever vaccination is recorded in a International
Certificate of Vaccination (Yellow Card) issued by the center. The certificate becomes
valid l0 days after vaccination, and remains valid for l0 years. Anyone pregnant or aged
65 and over should discuss the risks and benefits of this vaccine with their physician.
